A family decision was made to do as duty calls which would mean leaving during Senior year, leaving friends and family, but it's duty and what happens and "Hey, it is Europe(!)!" Paris, Venice, fashion, and fine food, "YEA, Baby!"
So we do what we can and are completely honest during the Exceptional Family Member Program(EFMP) Overseas Screening process.
Well, I'm "Exceptional" since I have bipolar disorder (Did I loose anyone with THAT disclosure? Don't worry, it's not contagious. XD) I had trouble in the past, but am now no longer taking psychotropic medications upon the recommendation of my last Psychiatrist but still see a therapist bimonthly and have a support group.
Anyway... I was completely honest, but there was the typical, some think inevitable paperwork snafu. Orders were issued for all! Concurrent Travel even! My daughter and I started buying guide books (Weird Europe, anyone?), pocket guides and mapping out Pioneer Kaserne where we would be going in lovely Germany. We break the news to close friends, parents, grandparents, my husband's Masters Program cohort & professors and business office, I resign from a postition dear to me, my daughter tells her coaches. We tell my husband's mother he will likely be going to Iraq and watch her eyes fill with tears as ours did, too.
